Surge Academy: Serving Unashamedly Reflecting Godly Examples
Molding Servant Leaders * Restoring the Vigilance & Consciousness of our Boys
Surge Academy is an all-boys private Christian school located inside the Hope Church of Christ in Hollywood, Florida. Our educational goals are to equip young men for successful lives by promoting high academic achievement tailored to meet their specific needs but with a mind toward service modeled after Jesus Christ. Jesus was the greatest servant-leader and by encouraging our young men to follow after his example, we are empowering them to get the most out of their own personal stewardship and live lives from the inside out. This will cause them to establish a “why” that is centered on the understanding of their existence and becoming keenly acquainted with God’s will for their lives; to bring him honor, praise and glory. One Lord, One Faith and One Baptism.
It’s time to get our boys back. Our young people have lost their respect for their self-worth, their history and more importantly their hold on the Judeo Christian values that center their minds and hearts. They’ve lost their love for service and something beyond themselves. There has been a departure from accountability which has led to aimlessness. As a people, we lack purpose and vision. And where there is no vision, the people perish. Christians are the light of the world and a city that is set up on a hill, cannot be hid. Therefore, let us restore. Luke 19:10 says “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost”. We need to restore what has been lost. It is time for us to restore our consciousness, the very vigilance our people have historically been known for during our struggles. We as mentors, teachers and parents need to get back on the tower and resume looking out for your young people. Specifically our young boys of color. We’ve got to look out for our communities and it’s time for us to restore them all. Tha’ts what we are about at Surge Academy of Hollywood, Florida.
“Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” -Matthew 20:25-28 (NIV)
